LA Kings Hockey School

The LA Kings Hockey School is a specialized program designed with curriculum that players can immediately take to their 2016-17 team. Each camp focuses on certain skill sets that can be utilized by any player to further their game. Among the most important of those skills are reading and reacting to plays, understanding new ways of seeing the ice and how to position oneself in order to become or eliminate a scoring threat.

Each camp includes instruction by LA Kings Alumni, daily discussions of mental preparation and focus, and high level strength and conditioning programs.


Battle Camp - July 18-22, 2016 at Paramount Iceland, Paramount, CA

  • Knowing how to give and receive a proper body check is essential. It can make the difference between taking a penalty and eliminating a scoring threat during the game. Additionally, winning the battle for that loose puck and reading how to position yourself on either side of that battle is critical in a game situation.
  • Battle Camp instructors Kyle Calder and Jaroslav Modry will demonstrate proper body checking techniques before instituting small area games, battle drills and races for loose pucks in a controlled environment.
  • This camp is available to birth years 2002-2006, so that body checking can be introduced and perfected in a safe environment before it becomes part of legal play at the Bantam level.

Score Like A Pro Camp - July 25-29 at Pickwick Ice Arena, Burbank, CA

  • Being able to pick your corner is an art form, and Anze Kopitar has perfected it. Any player can skate down the ice and hit top shelf, but how many can do it in tight spaces while still moving their feet?
  • Kings Alumni Daryl Evans and Kyle Calder, through skill progressions, will focus their instruction on shooting correctly, stickhandling in tight spaces, doing both together, then adding game situations so that these skills can be perfected in high paced environments.
  • This camp is crucial for players with birth years 2004-2008.
